Following the release of their critically-acclaimed fourth album Seventh Tree, Goldfrapp will perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, CA on April 25.
In praise of a recent sold-out show at Union Chapel in London, The Observer said, “Alison’s voice ranges from breathy to soaring, redemptive. This is bold stuff.”
Goldfrapp will also appear on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on April 22 and KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic” on April 23.
Seventh Tree is available now on Mute Records. The new album, which debuted at number two on the U.K. album charts, arrives on the heels of Goldfrapp’s third album, Supernature, which enjoyed international chart success selling over one million copies worldwide and earning two GRAMMY® nominations. Conceived as a sensual counterpoint to the pulsating glitterball glamour of Supernature, Seventh Tree features 10 new original tracks, written and produced by Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory and recorded at their studio deep in the English countryside. Seventh Tree’s first single “A&E” is available now for download and purchase in stores.
Called “languorous and spell-binding” by The New York Times, Goldfrapp are widely acknowledged for their uncompromising aesthetic. Equally renowned for the self-created visual theatrics of their live performances, Goldfrapp embody an ambitious inventiveness that Blackbook calls “textural soundscapes and a performance-art live spectacular.”
Goldfrapp’s debut album Felt Mountain was released in 2000 to widespread acclaim and was shortlisted for the prestigious Mercury Prize in 2001. Goldfrapp’s second album Black Cherry followed in 2003 and marked a stylistic departure from its predecessor. In 2005, Goldfrapp returned with the critically-acclaimed and GRAMMY®-nominated album Supernature.
I don’t exactly know how I feel about this song right now but the video is pretty sweet. Obviously lots of special effects and production value and blah blah blah. It’s good. I like the whole storyboard idea.
This is their first single of their new album, The Beginning of the Twist that came out March 10, 2008 in the UK.
Integrating pop melodies with socially voyeuristic lyrics in Kurt Vonnegut style prose, The Motion Sick leaves you thinking beyond usual romance parameters with their second CD release, “The truth will catch you, just wait… ” out on January 1, 2008.
This track actually came out in 2005 but it’s so good and I never wrote about SOFT anywhere so here is my chance. SOFT dropped their latest album “Gone Faded” in October last year which I have yet to listen to but will attack soon. They’ve also got a sweet video up on their website to watch.
Solo album coming out soon for Peter Moren, member of Peter Bjorn & John. He has released the first single off the album “The Last Tycoon,” title “Social Competence.”
